About me:

Rowan Lim is a visual storyteller, with a focus as a Director of Photography, gaffer and camera-operator. They also experience and skills in photography and producing as well as developed a comprehensive understanding of filmmaking roles through BU undergrauduate degree and their personal projects. What makes Rowan stand out is their creative visual style and technical knowledge in all things camera and lighting field as well as their pragmatic approach not just as a cinematographer, but a producer and a leader on their film sets and projects.

Rowan is not only just a artist or a technician, but a highly collaborative, hardworking, meticulous problem-solver. Rowan specialises in narrative work, but also has done freelance work in photography, videography, doc work as well . Rowan has just shot “interview with a vampire” cinematography final, is currently prepping for DOP role for a 20min psychological drama with a thriller element and an short action-drama body horror film. Rowan is always down for creative collaboration and is always making or being involved on projects. Rowan is drawn to meaningful storytelling with high visual production value as well as collaborating with other filmmakers and artists.

As someone who had to follow a conventional academic path before making a pivot to filmmaking and cinematography, Rowan is driven to encourage other people to work hard to pursue their dreams in creative fields. Rowan is also fiercely determined to bring representation to queer people and POC people as well as teach important life lessons through their artistic work. Both goals involve being the best version of themselves, not only through the final product, but through the collaborative process and bringing out the story, nuanced characters, relationships and messages of the film.

Rowan is a rising senior at BU and is currently based in Boston/MA, hoping to move to New York by the end of Spring 2027. Rowan is available to travel! Please reach out!
